Instagram (IG) Insights Terminology

Instagram Reach: Your reach statistics on IG are determined by how many unique users saw your content (i.e. post, story, or reel). Keyword being “unique.”

Instagram Impressions: Your impression stats on Instagram are similar to your reach. Both stats calculate the amount of views, each piece of content receives but, the key difference is impression views are not unique. This means one user can watch your video 100 times and your Instagram impressions will increase, whereas with reach, they’ll stay the same. 

Instagram Engagement Rate: Instagram engagement rate is a quantitative measure of how users interact with the content on your profile. It takes into account your number of followers, likes, comments, and shares. Engagement rates are typically calculated by dividing an account's likes and comments by follower count.
